Five minutes with James Holland
Meet our Head of Creative, James Holland.
We’ve welcomed James Holland to the agency as our new Head of Creative. James will be heading up our creative team and is already excited about what we can create to inspire and delight our clients. So, without further ado, let’s spend 5 minutes with James.
Congratulations on your new role at Fox Agency. Please tell us about your career journey so far.
I’ve been lucky enough to have worked at a lot of great agencies all over the world. I started off in branding, initially working for Interbrand London, before moving to their New York office.
I then freelanced for a few years before joining a small digital agency, followed by a move to the branding and packaging agency Elmwood. Here, we managed to win some marketing and advertising work, and I fell in love with working in the wider world of marketing, so I joined the B2B tech marketing agency Omobono to get my hands on more of that work. Omobono was then bought by The Marketing Practice, where I got to use my wide range of experience to oversee ABX, advertising, digital and branding projects, before joining the lovely team at Fox Agency in November 2024.
What excited you about the role with Fox Agency?
The agency has an incredibly talented and passionate team. It’s rare to find companies that do great work and have a great time doing it, but that’s the magic that’s been created at Fox Agency. I can’t wait to get stuck in.
What does your new role as Head of Creative involve?
Simply to take the great building blocks we already have and build them even higher. I want to help the team to do the best work of their careers, delight our current clients and bring in some ambitious new ones too.
What do you hope to bring to the Fox Agency creative team?
With my background in branding, I’m looking forward to building up the branding parts of the creative team even further. I’m also passionate about motion graphics and animation, so I can’t wait to work with our motion team here.
My hope is to bring a contagious energy and excitement for all things creative. I’ll also bring in some homemade biscuits and banana bread from time to time too.
What has been your biggest professional achievement to date?
This may not be a very exciting answer, but watching the developing careers of people I’ve mentored or managed in the past is the most satisfying part of the job. Supporting the team to be the best they can be is the core of my role.
On a more selfish level, I loved fanboying while recording a VO with Stephen Fry a few years ago.
Finally, tell us something interesting or unique about yourself?
I get really dorky about my cooking and I’ve never lost a chilli cookoff. In my opinion, there is no meal that can’t be improved with the right hot sauce.
