The future of finance?
Meet Leyton – Our Level 3 Finance Assistant apprentice.
This National Apprenticeship Week, we sat down with Leyton Williams, who’s been doing his Level 3 Finance Assistant apprenticeship at Fox Agency. We spoke about why he chose to go down the apprenticeship route, why he chose to do it here, and what he’s learnt so far during his studies.
Tell us about your apprenticeship with Fox Agency.
The Government’s ‘Find an Apprenticeship’ website shows off loads of apprenticeship opportunities across the UK. The role at Fox Agency really appealed to me, as it gave me the chance to continue my studies and progress in my chosen field. I applied as soon as I saw it.
I joined the team in September 2023, and since then I’ve been learning lots about the working environment. It’s so calm and peaceful here, which was a real breath of fresh air and not what I was used to. I’ll be here until January 2025, picking up valuable skills to help me in my finance career.
What attracted you to take the apprenticeship route?
It was an easy decision for me as I was already undergoing an apprenticeship so it was only natural to progress to the next level.
I’ve always liked the thought of studying for something that will set me up for a promising future, so being able to have a mixture of that and work is ideal for me.
What’s your day-to-day role at Fox Agency, and how are you finding it?
My day-to-day role varies across all things finance. From using all kinds of different accountancy software, approving transactions and receipts, looking over new and historic invoices and helping out the rest of the agency with timesheets and all things Scoro, where we manage the agency’s schedule.
What do you love most about working at Fox Agency?
What I love most about Fox Agency is the people. On my first day everyone was so welcoming and kind and it has continued from that day.
I also like the freedom of working in different spaces, whether that’s at home, in the office, or anywhere around the building.
How do you feel you have developed so far?
I feel I have developed well so far; I am progressing with my studies and have a great mentor in Olivia Gaunt, our Finance & Sustainability Manager, who has supported me in every way possible during my time here.
Would you recommend an apprenticeship to someone considering one?
Yes! I would recommend an apprenticeship to anybody that is interested in gaining qualifications as well as hands-on experience in an industry they’re interested in.
Tell us something interesting about yourself?
I love to travel. I’ve been to a variety of different countries and places and plan to continue my journey of travelling the world in the future.
